ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) devised the new pricing formula for CNG on Thursday, with CNG in region 1 placed at Rs72.20 per kg and at Rs63.76 per kg in region 2, Express News reported.
Region-1 comprises Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and the Potohar Region (Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Gujar Khan) and Region-2 comprises Sindh and Punjab (excluding Potohar Region).
CNG Association Chairman Abid Hayat said that Ogra had informed the association yesterday that they would be sent a copy of the devised pricing formula within two days for consultation, but the association has not received a copy as yet.
Ogra officials said that after completing the hearing, the entire proposal has been forwarded to the petroleum ministry for finalising the formula after rationalising taxes in consultation with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Sources said that the formula prepared is just a proposed one and not final and the CNG association is expected to be sent a copy today.
If the association agrees, the formula will be finalised and a notification will be issued, added the source.
Ogra officials said the proposal includes a suggestion for rationalising and not ending production costs in the price.
Hayat said that the association had given three proposals to Ogra and expect one of them to be adopted. He said that the parameters defined by the association were after rationalising all aspects of pricing and would accept the given formula even if it left them with a no profit/ no loss situation.
But, he said that if Ogra’s formula left them in loss, they would not accept the proposal.

The prices for region are higher brcause hr welli head. Gas price is highet as compared regiion 2 Rea sc order of 25 october Moreover region 1 gas quality is of low mmbtu as compared to region 1
What's the change? Balochistan, KPK and potohar are hilly areas where laying piPes and building pressure is difficult hence hi rate. And it goes to CNG owners not govt. Agreed it should be same price across country somehow. May be OGRA should charge Rs 10 more in Punjab n Sind as there is less utilization in other areas
it is because of us ( we the public ) that the CNG crisis has emerged .i recall that the whole matter was due to a petition filed by someone to DE-LINK the price of GAS AND PETROL thats it.SC should have not gone into pricing mechanism. We already have SC verdict on Sugar prices i.e to be sell at 40rs but are we able to get the sugar at that price ? isnt it a contempt of court that instead of 40 we are giving 70-80rs .why why why who is responsible for this ?should nt we be getting rebate for that ? we should also file a petition against the shopkeepers who are overcharging sugar rates and continues to do so and we the people are still willing to pay that price i.e 80. Thank God iam not in third world country where people and judiciary just see one side of coin.Always remember Coin always has two side . Why the government ( Petroleum ministry ) had linked the price of CNG with petrol ? and decided to review it on weekly basis? shouldnt we blame the government ? Hiaces and Buses and even ROAD LINER ( who travells from one city to city ) are charging the prices of DIesel from customers despite of the fact that they all run on CNG ? we all know that but still willing to pay them Diesel price rather than cng price .shouldnt we file petition against them Let other people do their own work and allow us to do our work rather than making things difficult instead of creating facilities. As far as i know upon lthe court order for forensic audit of stations and OGRA had conducted the audit of CNG stations from top audit firms of statebank of pakistan and independent audit firm had visited the sites and recommended a price of 85- instead of 61 . Then why OGRA is making things difficult insteading of implementing the receommedations of audit firm ? OGRA is working under Petroleum minsitry who is trying to curb CNG sector so as to Import LPG from foreign countries so that huge commissions could be earned . Have we ever think that if LPG is imported ( which is expensive gas ) then how it would be available to general public ?offcourse by giving huge subsidiy on it which in turn would cause loss of billion of rupees to nation exchequer and would increase our reliacne on imported products.
The slogan for OGRA is "Guarding Public Interest". (As can be seen in the image above) How Ironic!! :(

Very good. Balochistan is the main supplier of Gas and it gets the higher price? That's not fair at all. Kpk and Balochistan should have gas at a cheaper rate than Punjab and Sindh. The way that there Flour is more cheaper than ours.
