The military described the Hatf V Ghauri missile as a liquid fuel missile, which can carry both conventional and nuclear warheads.
The eighth missile test so far this year comes two months after the last test of a Hatf-VII with a range of 700km.
Five of those tests were conducted within a few weeks after India successfully test fired the Agni V, which can deliver a one-tonne nuclear warhead anywhere in China.
Defence analysts say India's strategic priorities are focused more on China, while Pakistan is still concerned about its eastern neighbour.

@khalsa: did you expect the missile to stay in the sky or return to earth uneploded?
Perhaps Pakistan military sould reset their military strategy and construct DIY type missiles which the Gazans used agaist Telaviv, for protection of border towns and shoulder carrying stingers to protect the Pashtun land against the American drones. We no longer live in the world of deterrants but in the 21st century.

Price of naan is Rs15 and a bullet Rs 5. self defence with a sickle is better than a borrowed arsenal. we are reverse driving and our rear view mirror is missing.
missile test ended in embaressment as its pieces fall off from the sky. thank god the entire missile didnt exploded or crashed on civil establishments
@Sajid Iqbal: even we dont like. we will rename it to modi and thackrey
o bahi mujhy to 1 bat ki samahj nai aye yar agr ham education my itny pechay han to phr ham ny ya missile kasy bna lia?
@Asad: It would be just like killing flies with sward . The one missile called Taliban has now landed on your land . this one if landed with nukd pay load then imagine what will happen .
@Asad: My dear friend why will India attack you ? And if there is major provocation, then nukes will not deter India, look at Kargil. We want peace and stability in our neighborhood but will not tolerate anyone trying to hurt us. As simple as that.
Why can't all the SAARC nations, including Afghanistan, have a no-war pact or a defense treaty like NATO ? Because Pakistan will get up and say first we want this and this and this and so on...
@Jat Lets talk about history then. What if Pakistan does not have nukes? India would have have attacked right away. I know there are so many other issues to deal with, I also know that people in the US are raising voices that aid money is being used for missile systems and all that. But Pakistan is not Gaza and the world knows it. Attack us and get ready for the outcomes Its as simple as it could be, the weaker ones die soon, so we have to get strong in all aspects, which is not digestible by our neighbors as far as the comments describe.
@Jat: we'll see challenge accepted
@Sid: Please do a little research on Wikipedia before you post. Iron Dome is an all weather air defense system developed and built by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems (an Israeli company) with partial funding from the US!
@Baby ka Husband and Jat:
Iron dome missile shield system is American developed and supplied to Israel and for that matter even their Prime Minister who is considered not at the best of terms with Barak Obama, has appreciated and thanked USA for the timely supplies. Do you really consider Israel a separate country that is not part of USA. Seriously !!
@Zaid Hamid: Miscalculation! It will come home and land in pakistan after circling the globe.
@M.Hassan: Agni-5 is for your deeper then ocean friend, China.
Can these missile cheack the entry of drones ? If not then how it is useful for Pakistan . It is just wastage of tax payer's money .
@Asad: I don't think you're even on Israel's threat radar.
why all the big fuss. it is far easier and cheaper to hand carry the explosives. Hamaas DIYS are more lethals with loly pops.
Rex Minor.
@Asad: "@Jat If India and Israel had such courage they would have attacked us."
India has the courage, but we are not violent people. When it became necessary we did fight a war with you, and cut you into two.
"You feel me?"
I feel for you, a nice person but caught on the wrong side of history.
ET forgot to mention whether the test was successful or not.
ahh just the usual checking of the chinese crap..........sooner or later taliban will attack and destroy this missile too...lol ...:D
@Raza Khan: Vote wisely next time. If you want your priorities change, go change them. No angel is gonna come to create a change and serve it for you!
@Sami: I think Al Gore claim that he invented Internet. Please can you provide year when internet develop by Pakistan. Oh it is water kit mindset.
Does this missile run on water?
I wonder if there are any history books that says India has attacked Pakistan and has started a war with it. Can anybody please refer these to us immotals
Make defence by making anti enemy's weapon and their blockades like Israel's iron shield for missiles. This is just wastage of money, time and resources for just sake of military accounts expansion. This world is now doing economic fight. Make this missile more presentable and put this missile at any chowk and keep clapping.
Pakistanis......do not look here and there......keep doing your work......this news has nothing to do with indians....but you can imagine why they are criticizing
lol.............a land home to hungriest of hungry people...........far more percentage of undernourished people...........90% people poor and joining extremist groups.........most number of school dropouts............hopeless infra and transportation in paki cities....hahahah............and what is the result a MISSILE TEST.........pathetic!!!!!!!!! try running ur railways first.....LOL
@Jat If India and Israel had such courage they would have attacked us. Israel can attack on Gaza because they know that Gaza does not have nukes. You feel me?
@M.Hassan: I think you don't have an iota of history... again for the record india has never attacked pakistan and would never do.... we don't want an inch of your land with barbaric people.. you glanced the test of agni 5.. but could not read within the line of our prime minister who repeatedly told just a few months back that india is not interested in change of borders... that itself means that indian have a defensive mindset rather than offensive..
@salaar: U rightly said...we are suffering from Pakistanphobia because if there happens to be a war between Ind and Pak then India has everything to loose and Pakistan has nothing to loose...so yes we are afraid of winning the war at an unexpectedly high cost.
@Ravi who: Hah 700 million.. who gave this information your madarssa masterji?????
We are wondering how to survive and our idiot state is firing missiles.
@Trippy Lucifer: Launch indian and american sats.. yup good idea.... but we already have this capability
@Raza Khan: The day this wish of yours is understood Pakistan will start prospering. Currently every one is wearing head phones and not listening to outside music.
@All who are against this
Palestine has no military force don't you see what Israel is doing with them. Do any of you remember the attack on Lebonan.
Stop this B*t that we should stop testing new technology. What Phds will do in a war situation? Remember they all be the first ones to fly to safe heavens.
@ Don't mind: North Korea not yet developed Inter-continental ballistic missiles ,so please wait for some more years.
v shuld put all ds money on education instead of wasting on all dese missiles....
@amit: We dont like name like Prithvi too. Can you change that please.
@Raza Khan: Education, health and all such things are necessity, defence is a compulsion. We can not ignore that. At first we should ensure correct utilization of already allocated funds and then in phase II we may discuss about setting the priorities. With India on one side, Afghanistan on the other, im surprised that how anyone can afford to accord DEFENCE as 2nd priority
@DDT: Israel is not as gentle and patient as India. They will stamp and squash you in no time if you mess with them.
Defense research is a must for any country. You know DARPA has huge funding and they have invented a lot of stuff even for civilian use. Even the INTERNET you use is due to the research done by DARPA. For advancement there is nothing wrong in investing in defense, it gives you edge over others countries and civilian technology also benefits.
A country full of guided missiles and unguided men
Quite impressive for a country whose top nuclear scientist do not understand the laws of thermodynamics!
@S: "...everyone has the right to self defend."
Oh really the great self-defender, why don't you defend yourself against the Taliban ? They have killed over 40,000 Pakistanis, including 4500 soldiers. They have also beheaded so many Pakistani soldiers, made videos and brazenly uploaded them on the internet.
Go, defend yourself ! Go, go now !!
Well done and please make a 5000+KM missile so it can reach israhell
its funny that as soon any news relating to Pakistan appears on ET .. I see Indians start commenting negatively about it ! Come on guys .. grow up !
and as far the problems relating to Pakistan are concerned .. These are none of your matters .. so shy don't you guys focus on the your most hungry/poor nation of the world !
give some food for thought and come out of PakistanFobia !
Haft V is nothing in range. Under development Haft XV can take one full circle of earth. Beware India.
Haft VI is nothing in range. Under development Haft XV can take one full circle of earth. Beware India
Dear Pakistani scientists!
The nation is waiting for the SLV to appear on Pakistani horizon since last five years. A promise was made many years back that SLV will be launched as a gift to the Pakistani nation, we started seeing the dream of entering space at our own. That dream seems to have been lost in the dust of last five years. It seems that missile technology progress has hit a snag or our minds and courage have sapped?
can some body explain where is our SLV?????????????????????
We are living in Fool's Paradise!
@vish: Ask Iranians, they have done it.
@Kanwal and that is the problem, missiles test are not unusual, they do not mean we are going on war tonight, whether enemy or not, we need to have capabilites to fend off someone who attack us (and we know if we go on war who it will be). everyone has the right to self defend.
three things are necessary for a state..1) strong militiary 2) market 3) implementation of laws...... so first we need strong militiary to protect PAKISTAN from external threats then comes internal problems....... i think PAKISTAN is doing the right thing by making it's militiary stronger and stronger
@amit: My friend, history is almost always two sided. The descendants of the victors remember their own as heroes and courageous while the losers remember the victors as barbarians and murderers. If you think ANY war has been won by showering rose petals at your enemy, you are wrong. At the same time, if you think any army that is defending itself has done so with honor or humanity, you are wrong again. War is always nasty and it always results in butchering of men worse than cattle. Such is our civilized society!
Which lunatic in the West or anywhere else in the world can find still any argument for development cooperation with Pakistan or any form of aid to Pakistan. At least I cannot explain this BS to our taxpayers. Surely the top three idiots always find arguments: USA No 1 (Afghanistan, Iran, India, AQ), Britain No 2 and EUR at No 3, the last lost its compass anyhow. Asians, Japan or China or nowadays S. Korea have a complete different set of reasons/agenda to assist Pakistan. Just wait, the Japanese are getting smarter and will also leave (too many pensioners at home). Americans are still here because they do not understand anything of the world outside their own Christian Taliban Homeland (half the US senators do not even have a passport). Britain is here because 4 million S. Asians are in Britain, they pretend to understand S. Asia but are stupid enough to allow Sharia in their own country. It cannot get any worse. About time to throw out the ex-imperialists of the EU as the current generation has no clue where they are talking about.The EU should also immediately stop their so-called development aid as they have no clue how diplomacy works. At least not with development cooperation money.
For such nonsense things we have budget but for education and health we are poor country.
Oh great! Looks like we are SAVED! i just dont know who the enemy is really though. Lol
@Baby ka Husband: Missles are tested on a regular basis to ensure calibration of guidance system. This is not unusual.
@Trippy Lucifer:
For your information, satallites are launched from rackets not on missiles., once a country is Nuclear then all other armmaments would become absolute., so Pakistan trying too hard to flush the money., well for Indias objectives has been served post Agni V and we are also completed the Missile Defense System program., so pakistan go go go, launch more and more missiles mak dry of your pockets feeding only hate instead of education to the comming Generation. great job.. keep it up., atleast per month you should launch 1 missile to arabian sea.. to through the next gen to arabian sea.
@Clear Black Bag: @Ravi: Well Said
@Raza Khan:
first stable yourself so that you can survive..huh..people wont understand.
Dear Men in Boots,
Could you please stop wasting my tax money. I'd rather be happy if you secure your bases and garrison first
@Trippy Lucifer: "Since we won’t be using them, why not use these to launch Indians and American channels satellites."
How many satellites have the North Koreans launched so far ?
@Ravi: Yes and the Agni's and Jericho's are designed to shower flowers on its target. Get a life and stop blaming the muslim mindset cause this mindset exists everywhere.
@Raza Khan: If some one attacks your home using weapons with an intentions to occupy your house and hostage your family, will you keep studying book in TV-lounge or rush for self-defence - out of common sense top priority would become self-defence. Think!
Raza do have a very valid point!
@Baby ka Husband: Iron Dome ? Last I heard Pakistan's top scientists were trying to run cars on water...
@Ravi: India just tested long-range Agni-V nuclear missile few days back with range of 5,000Km. What will you call that? India is pioneer in region developing nuclear and other weapons of mass distruction while Pakistan is reacting to that. In other words, Pakistan is being forced by India to spend 60% budget on self-defence. Be realistic, please.
this comes after india tested anti ballistic air defence system. what ever pakistan will fire that system will counter. india tested indigenous system for 8 times with all time success. this is not finding any mention in the article
@Ravi: Good, now go feed 700 million people in poverty in slums all over India. When you're done, come back
Pak shoudl test such missiles on every day basis,so that they can be powerful
No more Hatf's please. We want money spent on education, healthcare, and welfare of the society instead. I feel ashamed of this new test carried out in wake up such abysmal economic conditions. Wake me up when the dollar touches 100pkr.
Pakistan has inter continental missiles but why don't they let people know?the reason is secerecy :p
Lets fire it on suicide bombers, terrorists and Taliban.
Since we won't be using them, why not use these to launch Indians and American channels satellites.
cool.............now TTP has something to fear from.................:D
No one can deny Pakistan's right to defend itself - and invest in weapons for that. However, naming missiles after butchers such as Muhammad Ghori and Mahmud Ghazni seems designed to cause needless offence. Perhaps the people of Pakistan might want to ponder about how they would feel if other countries started naming weapon systems after the likes of Slobodan Milosevic, Ariel Sharon or someone else equally notorious in the Islamic World. The effectiveness of a weapon doesn't change with the name, but the name you choose to give does show the mindset of the user.
In any case, congratulations to Pakistani scientists, and I hope these (and Indian missiles as well!) are never used in anger.
Great stuff. Lets all build more penetrating fire power that can help promote destruction .
This article is about Ballistic Missile and the picture being shown is of Cruise Missile! Please fix this error this looks extremely bad that the reporter doesnt even know what he is reporting about
i pity pakistan and muslim mind set to dominate others by military might ...... using 60% of its resources for this devilish purpose..
What was the objective of firing this obsolete missile??? Perhaps to wipe away few thousand dollars for the spectacle?? If Pakistan was building an Iron Dome type missile defense system like Israel, then one can understand. Logic for firing this one is beyond me.
The day when we will stop test firing these missiles, I would believe that our priorities are changed and in the right direction which is education, health, infrastructure, law & order situation, etc, etc, etc. Till than we are going in reverse direction. We are our own worst enemies!
Very many many congratulations to all the team.....
