Kidnapping case: Three men get life terms

The court ruled that the time the men spent in jail during their trial will be included in their sentences.

Three men accused of kidnapping a seven-month-old girl have been sentenced to life by the Anti-Terrorism Court-I on Wednesday.


Danish Javed, Shahbaz alias Faizaan and Mohammad alias Faqeer Mohammad were convicted under Section 7(e) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, and sections of the Pakistan Penal Code that included offences for kidnapping for ransom and common intent. They were also charged for keeping an illegal weapon and were sentenced to an additional three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs5,000 each. If the accused are unable to pay the fine, a three-month sentence will be added to their punishments.

The court ruled that the time the men spent in jail during their trial will be included in their sentences. The accused kidnapped the minor on July 16, 2010, from her house and demanded Rs500,000 in ransom. The family registered a case with the police, who recovered the child after a raid.
