TANDO ALLAHYAR: Leaders of different nationalists parties on Saturday called time on the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) age old practice of using the nationalists as a launching pad for their politics. They said that they will not fight Sindh’s case in court, but in the political battleground.

Addressing a large public gathering against the Sindh Peoples Local Government Act (SPLGA) at Nasarpur Road, Tando Allah Yar, on Saturday, the leaders of the Save Sindh Committee (SSC) warned the ruling PPP government to withdraw the Act or to face the consequences in shape of public pressure.

The SSC’s Convener and the president of the Sindh United Party, Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, said that everything said by the PPP leaders had ‘dual’ meanings. “The PPP leaders oppose construction of the Kala Bagh Dam in Sindh but favour in Punjab,” he alleged. Shah further said that the PPP was the responsible of the disintegration of the country, adding that it intended to repeat the move.

“People of Sindh will not allow this time.”

He challenged the PPP leaders to arrange a big public gathering anywhere when was not in power. “The PPP always used nationalists’ shoulders but it is enough now,” he said.

“We’ll not allow anyone to divide Sindh in the name of judiciary, constitution or parliamentary committees,” said Ayaz Palijo, president of Awami Tehreek.

“Gas is not drilled out from Gulshan-e-Iqbal and water not from a well in Nazimabad but from Kandhkot, Thano Bola Khan and Keenjhar,” he added. “Gas, petrol and water will be disconnected, if Sindh is divided.”

Pointing towards number of people their public gathering had managed to attract, Palijo asked the PPP leadership to look at it and judge how people supported nationalists. “Operation against Baloch, awarding reward to Aslam Beg and Taliban…all are performances of the PPP,” he claimed.

The Awami Tehreek chief alleged that terrorism was being shifted to Hyderabad from Karachi with a preconceived plan. But, he said that no one had the courage to defeat millions of Sindhis.

“The history, existence and stability of Sindh are in danger. The enemies of Sindh are hatching conspiracies against it and the PPP is playing its treacherous role,” alleged Dr Qadar Magsi, chairman of the Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party.

Magsi alleged that President Asif Ali Zardari has decided to divide Sindh. He vowed that millions of Sindhis will defend the motherland till their last drop of blood. “Sindhis want their due right not charity in the shape of Benazir Card and Watan Card. The PPP leaders will come to know the reaction of people during elections,” he warned.

Pakistan Muslim League-Functional’s Nusrat Seher Abbasi asked people to be united for the motherland. “No need of promise for the safety of Sindh. It is our motherland and we know how to save it,” she added.

Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam’s Senator Khalid Mehmood Soomro, Awami Jamhoori Party’s Abrar Qazi, Pakhtoonkhwa Mili Awami Party’s Nazir Jan, Sindh Hari Committee’s Azhar Jatoi, Najaf Laghari, Comrade Hussain Bux Thebo, Qamar Bhatti, Altaf Jiskani and others also addressed the rally.
