KARACHI:

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has requested people to form vigilance committees to secure their neighbourhoods from the Taliban.

Calling out to the federal and Sindh government, Altaf said, “If you can’t fix terrorism, quit the government.”

Altaf told a MQM meeting via telephone from London that the government had failed to take effective measures to protect the lives and property of citizens.

Altaf noted that the Supreme Court had recently noted the movement of the Taliban in Karachi, which he had warned about many years ago.  “If there was a system of gatekeepers in every city then not a single Taliban member could enter,” he said.

He appealed people to forget their sect and religion, ANG remember that they are human beings and they should act as a fortified wall.  People should form vigilance committees for their safety, he said, while also urging people to step up before the Taliban start to take away their children.

Such committees should be made through out Pakistan. No terrorist will dare to attack us if they know we are well prepared and can give equal response to TTP and their sympathizers.
