MANSEHRA:

A man was killed and 13 others were arrested in separate incidents in Hazara on Friday.

In the first incident, a schoolboy was killed when a loaded tractor-trolley ran over him in Haripur, police said. Muhammad Zubair, a sixth grader and resident of Pind Hashim Khan village, was hanging on the side of a pick-up van on his way to school.

As the vehicle crossed a speed-breaker, Zubair lost his balance, fell on the road and was run over by a tractor trolley coming from the opposite side. He was killed on the spot, police said.

In the second incident, a woman was shot injured after her husband opened fire at her over a minor dispute in Rehar village of Mansehra, police said. Rasheeda Bibi, 22, and her husband Habib Ahmed returned home from Bibi’s parents’ house when Habib and his father started using abusive language against her and thrashed her. When she resisted, Habib opened fire at her with a 30-bore pistol, injuring her seriously. She was taken to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital where her condition was stated to be stable.

In the third incident, police arrested 13 drug peddlers and recovered an undisclosed quantity of narcotics from them in Karimpura area of Abbottabad.

On a tip-off, the police raided a house and arrested 13 drug peddlers, seizing heroin from them. The persons were arrested under the Maintenance Public Order 3 and sent to Haripur jail for three months, police said.
