ISLAMABAD:

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain said on Wednesday that the government was working to increase gas production to meet growing demand in the country.

Talking to a private television channel, he said that a policy was being formulated to increase gas production. He suggested that there should be separate winter and summer tariffs for compressed natural gas (CNG).

“Demand of the gas is high in the country while its production is low,” he added. “We are trying to develop infrastructure to import gas,” he said. Replying to a question, he said that action will be taken against those, who were involved in gas theft.
