KARACHI: KRL continued their dominance in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL), crushing Baloch FC 4-0 in Lahore yesterday.

Kaleemullah’s hat-trick helped his club extend their lead at the top of the table with his opening goal coming in the 22nd minute. Saadullah doubled the score in the 42nd minute and Kaleemullah scored his second three minutes later as KRL led 2-0 at halt time. Kaleemullah then sealed the victory for KRL in the 57th minute with a goal that completed his hat-trick. The Rawalpindi-based club now tops the league with 34 points after 13 matches, while NBP sit in second with 29 points. Army are in third place with 28.

Baloch FC, on the other hand, lost their ninth match in the league after having appeared in 15. They are now in 15th position in the 16-team tournament with only eight points, while Wohaib FC are at the bottom with five points after 14 matches.

Wohaib FC frustrate Navy

However, Wohaib FC, the debutants in the league, managed to frustrate Navy with a 1-1 draw in Lahore yesterday. The newcomers took the lead in the 47th minute through Mohammad Noman only for Navy’s Abdul Haq to equalise in the 67th minute. With the draw, Navy stayed in eighth position with 19 points after 16 matches. This was their seventh draw of the campaign.

In the third match of the day, KPT hindered PAF’s way to second position with a goalless draw in Peshawar. With the point, PAF replaced KESC in fourth position with 28 points after 15 matches.

“We should’ve won,” PAF coach Mohammad Arshad told The Express Tribune. “It’s our home ground and winning this match could have taken up to second. So far the campaign has been quite smooth but the pressure is increasing with each team trying as hard as they can. No doubt KRL, KESC, Army, NBP are top competitors and we’re having a good season, but teams like KPT, Afghan FC, Muslim FC and PIA can cause trouble as well.”
