Traffic Jams: Oil tankers to be moved to new terminal from Nov 1

KARACHI:

Oil tankers will be shifted to the Zulfikarabad Oil Tanker Terminal from November 1, said Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad on Saturday. He added that the move will reduce traffic jams on Karachi’s roads.

During his visit to the terminal, he said that after the process is completed, oil tanker drivers will not be allowed to park their vehicles anywhere in the city. The new terminal is built over 120 acres and 2,375 tankers can be parked there. Karachi’s administrator, Muhammad Hussain Syed, told the governor that oil tankers which were being parked in different areas of the city, including Shirin Jinnah Colony and Clifton, will be shifted to the new terminal gradually. Banks, petrol pumps, cafeterias and toilets will also be built at the terminal.
