KARACHI:

With the sound of Italian opera in the air and the Versace scent filling the room where smoked salmon and fresh lime was being served, the Italian brand Versace unveiled its newest perfume amongst a small group of socialites and fashionistas at Shapes, late Friday evening.

The ceremony opened with the gorgeous actor and recent award winner for best actress at the New York Film Festival Aamina Sheikh, who was dressed in a lovely Maheen Karim outfit. She did the honours of opening up the first bottle of Yellow Diamond, and stating candidly that it smelt heavenly.

Following her lead was the Italian Consul General of Italy Roberto Franceschinis, who graced the occasion and said: “Even in the times of imperial decadence, the Italian peninsula has brought forward great love for music, literature and the arts. It is now in the 21st century that we see that great Italian designers and names have gained recognition including D&G, Gucci, Prada and of course Versace. I am delighted to unveil this perfume here in Pakistan!”

As the evening wore on, five models dressed in deep gold outfits took the stage and sprayed the perfume in the air. Unfortunately, the very last one tripped and fell, breaking the heel of her shoe, but gracefully managed to continue her job, spraying the perfume on the wrists of guests. They wore customised golden togas by Maheen Kareem and Yellow Diamond Jewellery by Nazneen Tariq.
