Fees waived: UoP to promote degrees in philosophy

PESHAWAR: The University of Peshawar (UoP) has decided to waive tuition fees for the top students intending to pursue a master’s degree in philosophy this year. The move comes amid the university’s efforts to promote more interest in the subject. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by UoP Vice Chancellor Prof Qibla Ayaz who ordered the director of admissions Hizbullah Khan to support students wanting to pursue this programme. Ayaz said that the tuition waiver would be extended to those five students who have secured first division in their undergraduate examination and are on top of the merit list. A number of universities in the country have introduced various disciplines in humanities, including ethics. Future young graduate philosophers could be recruited as lecturers in colleges and universities, Ayaz said.
