Faulty deal: Shop sued for selling defective battery

LAHORE: A consumer court on Friday issued a notice to a shopkeeper for November 26 in a suit seeking Rs300,000 damages for selling a defective battery. Petitioner Raza Qadeer submitted that he had purchased the battery from Mohammad Qadeer of Lasani Autos Battery for Rs12,200 on April 1. He said Qadeer gave him a six-month warranty card. A few months later, the battery started malfunctioning. He said he contacted Qadeer who examined the battery and asked him to charge it properly but it did not work. He submitted that Qadeer neither replaced the battery nor returned his money. He prayed to the court to direct the respondent to pay him Rs300,000 damages for mental agony. The respondent said there was not fault with the battery and he would contest the case.
