KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has assured journalists that the killers of Mushtaque Khand will be arrested soon, adding that the government will ensure security to journalists.

In a meeting with a delegation of the Karachi Union of Journalist (KUJ) led by its president, GM Jamali, on Thursday, the minister said that the provincial government on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari was taking serious notice of the attack.

The delegation demanded the minister to compensate the family of Khand as well.

Khand was among the six people who were killed when unidentified people opened fire on a public meeting in Khairpur on October 7, 2012. Three local journalists were also injured in the attack.

The KUJ has withdrawn three-day ultimatum after the assurance of the provincial minister.

His vow should not be taken seriously. In Karachi every 10/12 people are killed in broad day light. Has he apprehended even one of them?
