QUETTA:

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani on Monday shrugged off criticism of the provincial government, calling his critics “politically bankrupt”.

A democratically-elected coalition government, which has representation of all political parties, is in place in Balochistan, Raisani said in a statement.

Therefore, saying “bring the true representatives of the people to govern” is contradictory to democratic principles, he added.

The statement did not name anyone – but Sardar Akhtar Mengal, the chief of Balochistan National Party, heaped criticism on the incumbent government in the volatile province in his recent outburst at the political and military leaderships of the country.

“Such statements degrade the public mandate,” the chief minister said. The provincial government has not only solved the issues of masses but has also evolved a political consensus on political issues of the province.

Mengal has reportedly said Balochistan is in the clutches of corrupt leaders. But Raisani said it is easy to blame but difficult to prove them.

“If somebody has reservations, he should also come up with evidence. We invite all those who blame the Balochistan government to come and visit us. We will show them the development schemes we have carried out in the province,” he added.

Raisani claimed his government had inherited a myriad of challenges and crises from its predecessors. “We and our allies accepted these challenges and brought a discernible change in the province,” he added.

The chief minister listed as his government’s successes the release of political prisoners, withdrawal of politically-motivated cases, restoration of the provincial economy, end of the overdraft, increase of Balochistan’s share in the NFC award, and provincial government’s authority over Reko Diq, Saindak and Gwadar port.

He said his government has taken a clear stance on the issue of missing persons in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the province.

So now its the fight between "Politically Bankrupt (critics of Government) Versus Morally Bankrupt (Government of Balochistan)".
