Sindh Assembly passes local government ordinance amid protests
Members of Pakistan Muslim League – Functional (PML-F), Awami National Party (ANP) and National Peoples Party (NPP) tore copies of the ordinance as Law Minister Ayaz Soomro read it out to the assembly.
Coalition partners of the PPP had earlier also staged a protest in front of Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Khuhro’s dais as their request for sitting on the opposition benches was not fulfilled.
Jam Madad Ali had requested the speaker to allot them opposition benches as they had left the coalition to protest against the ordinance.
The request was followed by an altercation in the assembly and the members of the opposition sat on the floor in front of the speaker’s dais, with black bands strapped around their arms.
Khuhro ruled that the seats were allotted to other members of the assembly, including some ministers and hence they could not be allotted as yet.
The Sindh Assembly session began with a delay of 2.5 hours.

Give me two valid and logical reasons as how PPP betrayed Sindh and how they have divided. No Crap, just two good reasons. I am waiting...
PPP has betrayed its voters, they have divided Sindh, just to save their government, I protest I will never ever forget PPP. May Allah Save Sindh..
@Muhammad Haris: I second your opinion, PPP-MQM gave only bad governance, corruption and political of violence to Sindh. Now for their vested political interests, they are ready to create anarchy by imposing controversial SPLGO2012. In the name of devolution, Karachi was made one city district govt but Hyderabad was divided into four. This system only favors in MQM and feuald's of PPP.
One Unit was also passed assemblies in General Ayub era, it created divisions in Pakistani society, it gave nothing but Bangladesh, dictator and 1971 war. Some elements want to destabilize Sindh and push Sindhis to walls so that it could become new Balochistan.
Political parties, civil society, media should do fair and neutral analysis to raise the voice of Sindhis, otherwise Sindh will be next Balochistan.
if SPLGO2012 was for the betterment of people, why it was issued at the midst of Night and then passed through assembly in half an hour. Where was debate and discussion to get input from civil society, other political parties and media etc??
With such dubious way of doing things, have raised questions about PPP-MQM's sincerity with system. And they made whole system a controversial. This wll give rise to more division between urban and rural Sindh, not at all good omen for society.

And here, I'm wondering that if PPP and MQM are so much in favor of stabilizing Sindh, then how come they appeared with this new Ordnance when the upcoming elections are closing in? What the heck have they been up to for the past 4.5 years... Sindhi People, OPEN YOUR EYES, USE YOUR BRAINS!
A Great Step for Democracy and for the betterment of Sindh; putting the power back into the hand of the people.
At last...excellent step taken by PPP on the demand of MQM otherwise I know even PPP doesn't care about local bodies or transferring power to third tier. This is so unfortunate that only MQM is thinking about common man at the moment while it should be responsibility of everyone. I am sure if you ask the parties who boycotted today as why they are resisting it, I can bet they won't have a logical answer. I want that fair local bodies system back which was in Mustafa Kamal tenure.

This is the best thing happening for People of Sindh. it will bring closer both sindhi and non sindhi speaking people and protects interests and rights of both groups. Congratulation to Sindh assembly and ruling coalition.This is something very positive done after a long time.
Bill is death sentence for sindh. I think days of pakistan have been numbered. Shame on PPP. We weep for vivisection of mother Sindh.

Being a Urdu Speaking Sindhi I would congrats all of our Urdu Speaking Sindhi & Sindhi Speaking Sindhi Brothers and request all of them to accept the reality because this system will empower to those who belong to Poor and Middle Class families.
A to Z will sell his soul, what to talk of selling Sind for sake of power. Congrats Mqm for achieving their goal. This has laid foundations of a seperate province and death knell for the PPP and their Sind Card.

Democratically elected representatives of Sindh have voted overwhelmingly in favor of the LG Bill and passed it in line with the democratic principles. Anyone making hue and cry against it is strictly a minority. Congratulations to sons and daughters of Sindh belonging to its cities, towns and villages on the historic milestone in the history of Sindh.
Whatever happened today in Sindh Assembly, I hope it bring something positive for Pakistan not only for Sindh province and I want to see peace in SIndh especially Karachi which I feel after dis clash today in political parties night of Karachi today will be not peaceful. I pray for safety for each one of us and our families.
