KARACHI: Three men have been sentenced for life for kidnapping a Yemeni garment trader in 2008. Abdul Faid was abducted in June 2008 and the kidnappers demanded $300 million in ransom. After 21 months, he was rescued by the police from a slum near Gulshan-e-Maymar, according to a news report published in Daily Times in March 2010. The police had also arrested five suspects from the house where the abducted trader was being kept. The kidnapping for ransom case was filed under the Pakistan Penal Code sections covering kidnapping and common intent.
