KARACHI:

Tests for the posts of 19,000 teachers will be conducted soon and the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) will start running the advertisements for 1,800 lecturers as well, said Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq on Thursday.

“Training institutions will be established for headmasters, headmistresses and principals, so that they can improve the standard of education,” said Haq at the NJV School, while distributing offer letters to those who had passed their SPSC examinations.

The government respects teachers and is trying to resolve their issues, said the minister. “There is no gender discrimination - following the vision of Benazir Bhutto, women are being empowered and their employment quota has increased from 5 per cent to 25 per cent.” Haq said that the present government realises the value of education and for that reason, it has been allocated 20 per cent of the budget for 2012-13.
