During his visit to the factory in the Baldia Town area, the PML-N chief expressed sorrow over the loss of lives.
Sharif held the factory owners and the government responsible for the incident.
He also called for an immediate inquiry and said that the culprits should be punished for their acts.
Hundreds of workers were suffocated or burnt alive at the Ali Enterprises garment factory in Karachi, which made ready-to-wear clothing for Western export, when a massive fire tore through the building during the evening shift on September 11.
Up to 600 people were working inside at the time, in a building that officials said was in poor condition without emergency exits, forcing dozens to jump from upper storeys to escape the flames, but trapping dozens in the basement where they perished.

None of these funds will reach the hands of the ones who have suffered in this incident. Mark my words... they're all making false claims, and take the funds out of the govt.'s pocket and put it into theirs...
what they can do from 0.3m just a formal statement by the cheif minister
Have we become so narrow minded in political bias that we wont appreciate good steps?? for the sake of humanity, please? So if IK visited the factory, NS should not do it to avoid copycat tag? So if he is not part of Punjab govt, he is leading the ruling party there. The party is named after NS for heavens sake.
I AM tax payer, and I would love to help my poor brothers who died in factory accident? Take out a second to think about those orphans and widows who are left with financial problems all through their lives. Even .3 million is not enough, every province should make some contribution to raise this to 1 M per person. They could have earned this if they had lived another 10 years.
@Karim: Yes you are right but ET did not report that!!!!
Why our politicians do not understand that distributing money among victim families is not a solution to the problem. I do not think that money will help in longer term. We might have millions of laws but we never implements those laws and poor people have to face the consequences. Mr Sharif try to follow the rules which you people made in your parliament.
@Naeem: He visited as he follows what PTI does...............you wil see a lot of such incidences.
He is announcing the money from Punjab Governments kitty.
@awans/@hopeful : atleast he has announced some kind of relief for the victims which is more than what the federal govt/sindh govt has done. So far NO relief has been provided by either PPP or Zardari or the Sindh govt. Living in Punjab & Being a Tax payer I would rather my money went to these people than the corrupt PPP govt. Im not a Nawaz Sharif fan but I applaud his efffort.
whos he to announce on behalf of Punjab Government?
By which authority is Nawaz Sharif saying Punjab Government will hand out money? He's an ordinary civilian with no right to distribute tax payer money.
PMLN is not giving this money from their Own Pockets. It is the money of the Punjab Government and who gave this right to Nawaz Sharif who dont pay any taxes and also he is not even the elected member in any assembly to distribute any money?. Are we living in Kingdom or in Monarchy where Kings like Nawaz are calling the shots?? What about the Lahore fire victims and people of South Punjab dying in floods?. Stop doing Publicity Campaign for PMLN on the money of Punjab Government.
ET, Yesterday another leader called Imran Khan visited too!!!!
