Iqbal, touted as the next ‘big thing’ by Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) head coach Jamshed Gul, proved that he has the ability to deliver under pressure as he kept an upper hand is his 74-minute duel, which he won 11-7, 12-10, 7-11 and 11-9. Gul said he was happy with the performance of both players as they gave each other a tough time and never dropped the tempo.
“Both players were outstanding and showed great fitness levels as well as commitment,” Gul told The Express Tribune. “Unfortunately, only one could be the winner. But it’s a good sign for us because we’ve been telling the players to give their best in whatever match they play.”
Gul added that he would be pleased if the two players are able to give a tough time to the seniors like Amir Atlas Khan and Farhan Mehboob in the upcoming CAS National Championship.
