First step: Interfaith harmony workshop held

Documentaries on the Swat Operation and the Gojra Incident were also screened at the camp.

ISLAMABAD: Taking the first step to promote peace building measures and interfaith harmony amidst prevailing challenges of extremism and fundamentalism in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal and other the regional countries, a youth workshop of students from different Pakistani and Nepali universities was held in Murree under the aegis of the Church World Service (CWS). Commenting on the objective of the event, Jennifer Christine Jag Jivan, facilitator of the seven-day youth camp, said: “The event was designed to inculcate the values of patience, forbearance and tolerance among individuals.” During the camp, lectures were delivered with the objective to promote the idea that faith is a fundamental human right and all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. The camp made an effort to transform the participatory youth into ambassadors of peace for promotion of interfaith harmony in their respective areas and cultures, Jennifer maintained. Documentaries on the Swat Operation and the Gojra Incident were also screened at the camp.
