KARACHI: After consulting with their legal advisers, the authorities registered four FIRs in the case regarding the murder of two men and a woman in a raid in Landhi on Friday night.
Rangers said that suspects had opened fire at them and they retaliated by shooting back at them.
They filed four FIRs, including FIR no. 488/12 and 450/12, under sections 302 for murder, 324 for attempted murder, 353 for police encounter, 13E for recovery of weapons, under the Pakistan Penal Code.
However, the residents of Muslimabad, where the incident took place, claim that Abdul Rasheed, 55, 32-year-old Guldara and an unidentified 65 years old man were killed in firing as the Rangers tried to make their way into the neighbourhood. Eye-witnesses told The Express Tribune that when the Rangers entered the area, some unidentified men started firing at them from their rooftops, the law enforcers did not retaliate immediately. They waited till they gained more access to the area before opening fire.
In the FIR, Rangers inspector Shakeel Akhtar, stated that two Rangers were also injured in firing when they started the operation in Muslimabad. He told the police that the Rangers had arrested half a dozen suspects and seized weapons from them.
“The police have registered cases on a complaint from the Rangers, but now they have to prove that the deceased were guilty,” said DSP Pervez Iqbal Bhatti.
