LAHORE: A bandit opened fire at Samina Khawar Hayat - Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) belonging to Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), when she tried to stop him from looting a passer-by on MM Alam Road, Lahore, Express News reported on Thursday.

According to initial reports, Hayat was standing outside her house when she witnessed two bandits stealing valuables from a female. On Hayat’s orders, her security guard caught one of the bandits while she followed the other one in her car along with her husband.

During the chase, the robber opened fire at Hayat’s vehicle, however she and her husband were unharmed.

The bandit then fired at two passers-by and injured them, fleeing from the scene on the victims’ motorbike.

Speaking to Express News, Hayat criticised Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for the poor security in the area as no police personnel came to her help during the entire episode despite requests.

She said she ended the chase because she had to take the injured to the hospital.
