NEW DEHLI: After being in the industry for more than a decade, Bipasha Basu says an actor’s life is a rather sad one. She explains that even superstars fade away after a certain point and are remembered only when they are gone forever.

“The biggest of superstars are remembered only when they die. But what do you do? It is very sad, but that is the way it is. Nothing is permanent in life,” Bipasha told IANS.

A classic example is Rajesh Khanna, Bollywood’s first superstar. Forgotten for almost a decade, it was discovered he was at the hospital and reported dead a few days later. Following his death, however, there was a nationwide outburst of grief, she added, emphasising her point.

“Once you achieve success, you just want to continue working and not be forgotten. It is an emotion every actor worldwide deals with,” said the 33-year-old, who plays an actor whose career is on the downfall in her forthcoming film Raaz 3.

Raaz 3 is about struggle of an actor’s life to attain fame and success, and Bipasha feels that an actor’s life makes an interesting proposition for a movie’s theme. She elaborates, “Acting is a very enigmatic line. Being a celebrity, people always want to know about your personal life. Who you are? What you eat? How you live? Where you go? Who are you dating? How you breathe?”

“These days, everyone wants to be an actor. It is a fascinating profession and people want to know what happens behind the scenes. And that is the reason so many movies have been made on this topic [The Dirty Picture, Raaz 3 and Heroine],” said Bipasha, who made her acting debut with the 2001 film Ajnabee.

When asked if such films are actually based on real life incidents, Bipasha responded, “These are all fictional and a little drawn from reality. Such films basically depict different perspectives of directors, making the films very interesting.”

An actor’s personal life always makes it to the headlines and this Bengali beauty hasn’t been spared either – be it her relationship with Raaz co-star Dino Morea, or her romance with actor John Abraham and their break-up. Though she does not let it bother her a lot, she says the media and people should not forget that actors need some privacy.

“People are always interested in what you are doing in your personal life. But they forget we are also humans constantly going through struggles with good and bad times both – so it is quite harsh to expect actors to always be okay with whatever is written about them; we are not super humans,” she added.

Speaking of her interest in comedy films, Bipasha says, “I am dying to do a comedy film. I am a funny girl blessed with a mad sense of humour. I think I can pull off comedy nicely. I don’t like slapstick comedy but yes, situational comedy works for me,” said the actor, who has done comedy films like No Entry and All The Best.

Last seen in Jodi Breakers, Bipasha’s future projects include an English film Singularity, and a horror project called Aatma.
