BARA:

Seven militants were killed and six civilians injured in separate incidents in the Bara sub-division of Khyber Agency on Monday.

A security official said that five militants from the banned extremist group Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) were killed when the explosives they were shifting to another place went off.

LeI commander Said Rahman was present in a hideout in the Akkakhel Mallot  area of Bara sub-division along with his comrades who were shifting explosives to another location when they exploded, according to the official.

As a result, commander Said and his associates were killed on the spot.

The official added that soon after the explosion militants of LeI rushed to the site and shifted the charred bodies to an undisclosed location.

In another incident, two militants from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were travelling on a motorcycle in the Kharmatang area, on the border between FR Kohat and Bara sub-division, when their bike hit an improvised explosive device (IED), killing both on the spot.

Earlier this week, three TTP militants were killed in the same area in another IED blast.

Meanwhile, six people, including children and women, were injured in the Arjali Naday area of Shalobar when a stray artillery shell hit a house owned by a tribesman identified as Guldaz.

According to a local tribesman, security forces were targeting militant hideouts in the area when a stray shell hit the house and injured the residents. The injured were rushed to a hospital in neighbouring Peshawar.
