FAISALABAD: The factories located in residential areas of the city will soon be moved out, Water and Sanitation Agency vice president and member of provincial assembly Khawaja Muhammad Islam assured the district coordination officer on Sunday.
He was speaking at a meeting to review the pace of work of ongoing Faisalabad Development Authority projects in the city.
Islam told the meeting a strategy was being worked out to relocate these factories away from residential areas. He said several meetings had been held with the factory owners for the purpose.
DCO Naseem Sadiq directed the Wasa officials present at the meeting on Sunday to ensure that all of its ongoing development projects were completed by September 30.
The DCO said the performance of the Wasa and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) was satisfactory but could still be improved. He said if any of the private housing societies in the city failed to undertake development projects in time, the FDA should auction the plot pledged with it and use the funds for the task.
He directed the PHA to hire enough contract staff to ensure that work on its ongoing schemes was completed in time. He gave the administration two months to complete work on a sewage project in Chak Jhumra.He expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made to drain rain water from city roads.
