KARACHI: Pakistani shooter Khurram Inam struggled on opening day of the two-day skeet shooting contest, firing a total of 67 in the first three rounds.

Favourite Hancock Vincent leads the table after the inaugural day of the event, accumulating a total of 74 while firing an exact 25 in the first and third rounds while missing a bird in the second round. He was followed by three shooters with a total of 72. Inam, who scored 21, 23 and 23, said he was never prepared for the instant change in conditions and his medals hope now rest on a miracle taking place today.

“The conditions turned windy,” Inam told The Express Tribune from Royal Artillery Barracks in London. “All the shooters struggled but they overcame the resistance quickly as they are professionals and were well prepared. As far as I am concerned, I didn’t have much practice and training.”

However, the shooter, who is featuring in a record third Olympics, was not satisfied with his performance.

“I could’ve done much better than finishing in the 70s. I was going very good in the third round and could have shot all the birds. It was really disappointing as I overcame the pressure of an ordinary first round quite quickly.”

Following the first three rounds, Inam will not be able to equal his personal best of 119 even if he maintains 100% accuracy.

Then why are you competing at the Olympics when you didn't had time to practice and prepare yourself for this mega event Mr.Inam? - What an excuse!
