KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the Sindh Chief Secretary seeking his comments by August 6 on a petition challenging the appointment of the son of Mushtaq Shah who recently retired as provincial police chief.
A deputy superintendent of police, Zahid Hussain, filed the petition questioning the appointment of Mushtaq Shah’s son, Saleh Shah, directly as DSP.
The petitioner maintained that Saleh Shah was appointed directly due to clout and position held by former IGP Sindh Mushtaq Shah, which is a sheer violation of rules, regulations, merit and judgments by superior courts.
The petitioner requested the court to strike down the notification of the appointment of Saleh Shah as illegal.
He informed the court that the notification clearly mentions that Saleh Shah would appear for the Sindh Public Service Commission, but he was sent for training.
The bench after hearing the counsel for petitioner sought comments from the chief secretary and ordered notices to all respondents including IGP Sindh for August 6.
The bench also directed the petitioner to make Saleh Shah as respondent in the petition.
