Agriculture: ‘Orchard plantation to begin soon’

New fruit zones to be established where locally produced fruits would be upgraded by export quality grading,

FAISALABAD: The Punjab government has decided to plant new orchards to enhance fruit exports, Ayub Agricultural Research Institute Director General Dr Noorul Islam said on Monday. He was talking to reporters. He said the Agriculture Department would soon establish grape orchards in Cholistan area while Bhakkar and Layyah have been selected for the plantation of disease-free citrus fruits. He said new fruit zones would also be established in the Punjab where locally produced fruits would be upgraded by export quality grading, polishing and packing.
