LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Monday summoned the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) vice chairman and the Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) chairman (executive committee) for Tuesday (today) on a petition challenging the suspension of licences of some lawyers on July 7.

Imrana Perveen Baloch, the SCBA vice president, has filed the petition and challenged the PbBC order suspending the licenses of three female lawyers – Humaira Bashir, Shakeela Rana and herself.

She said that six members of the PbBC, including Rana Muhammad Asif Saeed, the executive committee chairman had detained the three women, abused and harassed them when they protested against the “unlawful restoration” of the licence of a lawyer, Rana Altaf by Saeed.

Bashir had earlier filed a complaint against Altaf and  accusing him of torturing her.
