Government boy's school blown up near Peshawar

Two rooms and a hall of the school were destroyed. Police reluctant to inspect the site at night.

PESHAWAR: A government primary school was destroyed in in Masho Gagar village on the outskirt of Peshawar late on Monday night.

Two powerful bombs targeting the schools for boys exploded about half past midnight, destroying two rooms and a hall in the building.

Locals told The Express Tribune that the powerful explosions were heard for miles. Eyewitnesses described the post-explosion school building as ‘destroyed.’

They said local police had been informed about the incident but they law enforcement personnel were reluctant to inspect the site at night. Last month, when militants targeted an under construction mausoleum, police and other locals who rushed to the site were targeted by a secondary device.

Militants have destroyed many girls and boys schools in the surrounding villages in the past five years. Over 700 public schools have been destroyed by militants in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Fata areas since 2004.
