ABBOTABAD:

A newly-married woman was allegedly murdered and her body set on fire in village Rich Behn Kothiala on Saturday evening. Police have arrested the deceased’s father-in-law and brother-in-law.

Khalil ur Rehman, the father of Sayam Bibi, aged 21, told the police that his daughter was married to Muhammad Irfan, a taxi driver, about a year back. However soon after marriage Sayam would complain of being mistreated by her in laws due to which she would return to her maternal home. According to Sayam’s father, he persuaded her to return to her in-laws every time.

According to the complainant report, when Khalil reached home from Abbottabad on Saturday afternoon after attending a marriage ceremony, he was told that Sayam’s in-laws had murdered her. “When I got to her home I found her charred body in a cot,” Rehman told the police in a statement, accusing her father-in-law Mumraiz, her brother-in-law Rizwan and her mother-in-law Shaheen Bibi for murdering Sayam and then setting her body on fire.

The police have registered a case against all three under section 302/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code and have arrested Mumraiz and his son Rizwan.
