Dual charge: SHC summons order for police officer’s promotion, dual charge

The petition was filed by a farmer who alleged that he was harrassed by police.

KARACHI:

A division bench of the Sindh High Court has summoned the official notification through which a police constable was promoted as DSP under the shoulder promotion policy and also continues to holds dual charge -- DSP at Moro and In-charge CIA, Naushehro Feroz.

The bench, comprising Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Aziz-ur-Rahman, was hearing a petition on Friday filed by a farmer and resident of Nuashehro Feroz, Ghulam Mohammad Korai, who alleged that he was being harassed  by respondent police officer, Allan Abassi.

The petitioner maintained that Allan was appointed as a police constable and by getting shoulder promotion over the years was now holding dual charge of DSP Moro and In-charge CIA Centre Naushehro Feroz. He maintains that responder Allan Abassi is harassing him. He sought protection from the court stating that Allan enjoys enormous influence and is holding dual charge due to backing of top political leaders.

The petitioner also annexed a statement by Allan Abassi before a judge of Naushehro Feroz in which he allegedly confessed to have killed more than two dozen individuals.

“After this statement he should have been removed and placed under suspension but instead he is enjoying dual charge,” submitted the counsel for petitioner.
