Members of the Brahmani community and other activists blocked the Indus Highway near Dadu Bypass for over three hours, while Dadu itself wore a deserted look. Dadu police had opened fire while trying to disperse a crowd of protesters from the police station on Thursday. Aashiq Brahmani, 28, was reportedly hit by the bullets and later succumbed to injuries.
The protesters were demanding the arrest of culprits responsible for murdering Bashir Brahmani last month. Zulfiqar Brahmani, Aashiq’s brother, claimed that the police were refusing to register an FIR of Thursday’s incident. The Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party claimed that Aashiq was its worker and demanded that police register an FIR against Dadu SSP Farooq Aiwan and other policemen who were involved in the incident.
