The Supreme Court has issued notice to Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on an appeal by the Sindh government against a high court order.
The Sindh High Court had ordered that the petitioner shall not be arrested, while allowing an application filed by the former chief minister fearing arrest upon his return to the country. On Friday, Justices Khilji Arif Hussain and Sarmad Jalal Osmany heard the government’s appeal questioning the high court judgement. After hearing the initial arguments by the appellant, the court ordered notices to be issued to the respondent for an unspecified date. Rahim had also filed a petition in the Sindh High Court, questioning his unseating from the Sindh Assembly for his prolonged absence from legislative sessions. The court has reserved judgment on the petition.
