FAISALABAD: The board of directors of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) has approved development work for upgrading the power system with assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which has lent money for the purpose.
Participants of a board meeting held here disclosed that ADB has given $23.29 million for the first phase and $19.23 million for the second phase of the development work, announced Fesco here on Thursday.
Under the programme, various grid stations and transmission lines will be upgraded in order to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to agricultural, industrial, commercial and domestic consumers.
The board also approved the purchase of 11-kilovolt switch gear panels, circuit breakers and insulators. It reviewed a plan to purchase electricity from Kamalia Sugar Mills, Shakarganj Sugar Mills and Ramazan Sugar Mills.
The board also gave the go-ahead for electrification of Danish School (boys and girls campus) in Hamoli district of Mianwali at a cost of Rs35 million.
The meeting also gave the green signal to providing electricity to the Punjab Government Servants Housing Scheme, being constructed on Satiana Road, Faisalabad.
