Deputy prime minister post challenged in Supreme Court

KARACHI: A petition was filed against the post of deputy prime minister in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, also asking that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi be stopped from functioning as deputy prime minister, Express News reported on Thursday.

Syed Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the validity of the deputy prime minister post.

He argued that according to the Constitution of Pakistan, there was no room for any such position, insisting that the court dismiss the post of deputy prime minister.

The petitioner also said that increasing the number of advisors from five to seven is also against the constitution of Pakistan.
