Taking action: Alleged target killers arrested

SSP Asif Sheikh said that law enforcers had arrested a suspect, Abdul Rehman.

The South Zone SSP Asif Ejaz Sheikh said at a press conference in his office that law enforcers had arrested a suspect, Abdul Rehman, who was allegedly involved in the targeted killings of at least three people.  However, he did not disclose the political affiliation of the arrested man.


A young man, identified as Zainul Abideen, was arrested by the Malir City police for his alleged involvement in the murder of a seminary student a few months ago in Malir. DSP Rao Iqbal said that the suspect was arrested in a raid conducted on a tip-off and further investigation is under way.

Another alleged target killer, identified as Siraj, was apprehended in Surjani Town by the Special Investigation Unit of the police. Law enforcers said that the suspect was involved in about one dozen cases of target killing, including that of a police officer.
