Freedom of speech: Police detain six men for attack on Aaj office

DSP Qaiser Ali Shah said that the detainees included five Pashtuns and a Baloch man.

At least six suspects were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the attack on the office of Aaj TV office in Gurumandir.


A security guard and a staff member were injured when unidentified men on motorcycles opened fire at them late Monday night.

Following the attack, the police raided an area in Patel Para, arrested six suspects and seized weapons from them. DSP Qaiser Ali Shah said that the detainees included five Pashtuns and a Baloch man, but the police do not know about their political affiliations except that all of them have a criminal record.

An FIR has been registered against unidentified men under Sections 324 and 334 of the Pakistan Penal Code and 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) on the complaint of the injured staffer, Jawwad.
