Additional District and Sessions Judge Kaleem Khan dismissed the application filed by the younger Gilani, who is also an MNA from Multan.
On June 21, Magistrate Shafqatullah Khan acted on a request from the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and issued warrants for the arrest of Gilani and former federal health minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin in the case, which revolves around the issuance of excessive quota allocations for the import of ephedrine, which is a controlled substance.
Gilani’s lawyer Abdul Aziz Ali had argued before the court that a magistrate could not issue arrest warrants in a case being investigated by the ANF. He posited that there are special trial courts for narcotics cases and arrest warrants for any accused could not be obtained from the court of a magistrate.
The lawyer had requested that the sessions judge set aside the order of the magistrate and cancel the warrants.
The court rejected the application for cancellation of warrants and observed that the orders of the magistrate were not illegal.
On the other hand, former health minister Shahabuddin has obtained a week-long protective bail from the Peshawar High Court after warrants for his arrest were also issued.
The case regarding the illegal sale of ephedrine was registered on October 10 last year, after two pharmaceutical companies were accused of obtaining export quotas for the drug in collusion with the health ministry officials that exceeded the limits fixed by the INCB.
Ali Musa Gilani, son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, has been named in the Supreme Court as the main accused in the multi-million-rupee scandal.

Look at Pir Sahib's 'Innocent' Face !
@Jibran:
1- Do you really believe that Gilani's son is not guilty or is it your political affiliation speaking.
2-Sure CJ's son is guilty and that's why CJ has handed the case to AG of Pakistan-- one who is at odds with CJ..
3- Sure, ZAB's case was NOT proven in court, but again do you REALLY believe that he was not guilty of murder(s).
Please reply one by one.
if your are out of favour with judiciary ,you have no defence wait for the next government and then these judges will be running scared
Another siasi shaheed in the making.
His only "crime" is that he is not the son of a"Black coat"
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
@Jibran: Please note the arrest warrants are not because the little Gilani has been convicted and police want to send him to the prison. These were issued because he refused to cooperate with ANF investigation. If he is the innocent victim you think he is (he might well be) then why is he hiding and not helping ANF with their investigation? The investigators are under no obligation to disclose the evidence before a suspect is charged and is taken to the court. If Musa is innocent he should not be charged but hiding from investigators is hardly a display of one's innocence.
The ANF prosecutors said that they had found ‘solid evidence’ against Gilani. Why continue to fail to present this "solid" evident in the court? Yet the biased judges from Rawalpindi, Northern Punjab, continue to become part of this dirty game.
Crime is to man as fleas are to dog, the likelihood of its presence increases as the quality of one's personal circumstances decreases. this is just a reaction and will fade away in a few days as deals are under process.
There is no case against him. One bureaucrat, who approved the quota and is neck deep in this scandal, says that he received a phone call from Ali Musa Gilani after he was promised no prosecution to make this statement. Remember ZA Bhutto trial, where similar excuses were used to frame him without any concrete evidence.
On the other hand, there is one criminal who was taking bribes from a businessman to the tune of billions, and there are all the proofs against him. But since he happens to be the son of the CJ (read judiciary), he will never see a single day behind bars. There is no court in this country to touch him.
I only hope that the court is helped by the police in arresting and nib the evil in the bud. Hope that Ali Musa will not be successful in dodging the courts like MOONIS ILAHI.
If it had been me or you, the police will pick someone from our home and torture them before we handed ourselves in. Good work by the session judge though for doing his job.
