LAHORE: Inspector General of Punjab Police Habibur Rehman has set up teams under the supervision of district police officers across the Punjab to measure police officers’ waists, said a press release from the IG’s office. The teams have been instructed to send their reports to the IG in a week. The IG recently warned officers that anyone with a waist of more than 38 inches would not be allowed in the field. After the teams send in their reports to the IG, the police will check if officers in operational duties need to be reassigned. The IG may decide to grant an extension for the slimming plan. However, the police appear not to have made any arrangements to check the waists of DPOs.
