Raids and arrests: Taju gangster’s aide among eight men caught

A truck driver was shot dead while the law-enforcement agencies claimed to have caught eight men since Tuesday night from all across the city.


Rangers arrested five men and said that one of them, Irfan aka Yamaha, was a close aide of Taj Mohammad, aka Taju – a notorious Lyari gangster. Irfan had just come out of jail. All the men were reported to be involved in murders, attempted murders, kidnapping, extortion and drug peddling.

Three more men, identified as Ramzan, Shahzad and Nazim, were arrested from in Lasi Goth in New Karachi. Their arrests were disclosed at a press conference held by SP Noman Siddiqui at the South Zone SSP office. He said that the men were part of a robbing gang and had recently killed two of their own men, Ismail and Ameer. Their bodies had been found in New Karachi on June 18. The Rangers arrested five alleged Lyari gangsters from areas around Kharadar and Khadda market.

Meanwhile, in Shirin Jinnah Colony, a truck driver, 35-year-old Subhan, was killed. the police said that he belonged to Peshawar and initial investigation suggested that he was targeted.
