Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Imran said that even if a new prime minister is elected by the current setup, the problem would not be solved.
“The only solution left now is early election,” Imran said, adding that the current government had failed to do any good in the last four years and expecting something different from them now is out of the question.
Expressing frustration over the power crisis, the PTI chief said that he has decided to stand with the people and protest against loadshedding.
He announced a protest rally in Faisalabad on June 27 and said he will also visit other cities and protest along with the locals.

Every elected govt in Pakistan has always been dumped/changed/overthrown with the help from SC. From Justice Munir to Justice Nasim to PCO judges, there are no exceptions. In each incident the history has determined that the SC was wrong. To some who have no clue, the SC interprets the laws but has no powers to implement them. Again the implementation of its decision is in the hands of executive branch. Only in Pakistan the role of unelected paid govt servants generals and SC judges has become so powerful against the elected govt. This decision of PCO SC is only going to help the ruling party in the next elections with the silent majority in the rural heartland. The SC hounded pounded and finally chased the govt out of the office. Under these conditions how could they work for people?
let PTI gaurd all poling stations and make sure elections are fair May be PTI then will save its deposit
@Ahad:
Dear Ahad, PPP has nominated Fiza Gillani for the bye elections, now this is the high time for PTI to prove their worth (if there is any), they are having Shah Mahmood, Javed Hashmi and Imran Khan those can go to contest election.
Common, Tsunami, come back from streets and TV Channels and contest election, I wanna see your worth
@Adeel Syed: I see plenty of pro-PTI comments. Could it be you don't have the ability to judge the worth of your own words?
@ jibran r u serious if pti is nt popular than do u mean to say ppp is, commom bro tk a life...
Nice yellow journalism ET. Blocking all pro-PTI comments and allowing hate-filled ones. Shabash.
Yes, it is a historic dicision for it violated all principles and allowed itself all the powers that don't belong to either the CJ or the SC. It's Imran inspired and for Imran, shame.
Imran with dirty eggs from all political parties can not bring change
Why is he so late every where... he is late commenting on PM Gillani's earlier conviction, he is late in commenting on the PM's disqualification, he is late in joining the load shedding protests, and the list goes on and on... IK waits for others to take their positions and than apparently copies one of them that best fits his agenda. A revolutionist in slowmo.
I hope nothing even remotely distasteful happens between now and the elections. Otherwise Mr.Imran Khan will boycott this election too ! Mr.Khan, you want to be the next PM, your party has to fight the next elections.
roma:
I can't comment about Kaka but ET in it's infinite wisdom has decided to block my comment about Mr. Khan's wisdom, vision and fore sight.
to kaka and maulana tharrar - what in the article did Imran say that make you call him dishonest ?
i agree with many of you above in that Imran and PTi will have to PROVE themselves - there is no pre-fixed outcome
but to kaka i would like to ask where in the article has Imran been dishonest ?
"Kaka How intellectually dishonest can a man get. The answer is before you."
Sad thing is that he means it.
How intellectually dishonest can a man get. The answer is before you.
@Yasir Ali: O bhai my family members live in Multan. You are saying give PTI a chance and i agree with you but please ask Imran Khan that how can we vote when their will be no PTI in elections? Tell him to come in elections rather than on ET, facebook and twitter and we ready to vote him.
PTI should only contest general elections. After the electoral rolls arr completed. PML Q won all the by elections but lost the general elections. By the can any one give me any statement of nawaz and shahbaz on malik riaz. Am i not reading deep into news papers or did they really not said any thing about malik riaz.
@Khan if you were the one who voted for this government than you should be ashamed of yourself rather than criticizing Imran Khan of asking early elections.
@Falcon: With just one seat of MNA for just a few months will not give them any bad name of share of blame. Sure that MNA can work in that constituency for development of the area and can show some difference at least.
@Jibran: You don't need real popularity to attract vote, more of plain vanilla common sense, where I see PTI fairing much better than the current lot.
We are with you IK
@Ordinary Villager: PTI standing up in bi-elections for few months worth of governance would be a political brand suicide since it won't be able to make any difference in such a short time but will end up sharing the blame.
@Jibran: Well they have to as it is the best time for PTI as When PTI will have its candidate in Multan and he will win then we could see a trailer that what PTI can achieve in next elections. Also the PTI's candidate will have almost more than 6 months and we could see what he will do with Millions of Rupees of Development funding in the region of Multan. This bye election is the best case for PTI to prove themselves that they are a Political force otherwise people will call PTI a Political Farce.
These are high times and I will request IK to take the decision of contesting the vacant seat. This will surely show us the picture of the PTI fame in Multan.
@Ordinary Villager: Do you really believe PTI stands a chance there? Reason for their boycotts is that they can't pull a win through doctored surveys and internet mud slinging. You need real popularity among the ordinary people most of whom don't have luxury of internet.
Mr I.K's demand for an early election not only shows his immaturity but also is an insult to all those millions of Pakistanis who queued for hours to vote in 2008. In the history of Pakistan no government has ever completed its tenure and this shows how much we lack respect for others and patience. If he thinks the current government isn't solving our problems then its up to the people of this country vote some one else instead of PPP government. Can't he just wait just a few more months even? Amazing to see his impatience.
He has no chance of becoming the prime minister. He is simply playing a role of a spoiler for the establishment.
Mr Imran You are a chief of PTI and now it is the time to prove your mettle in Multan against Gailanis. The seat of the Mr Gailani is now going to be vacant and you have two strong candidates Shah Mehmood and Javaid Hashmi there and please field them for elections and dont leave space for Gailanis and PPP to win from there. If PTI will boycott the elections and will give room to Gailanis this time then I am going to boycott PTI in next elections.
Let the race between PTI and PML-N loyalists begin to welcome the decision.
