Twenty20 overkill: Australia OK with 5 T20s

KARACHI:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is weighing its options with regards to hosting the series as Cricket Australia (CA) has agreed to play a Twenty20-only series with an increased number of matches.

Pakistan are due to host Australia for five One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20s in August but CA said the team was open to play more Twenty20s instead of the ODIs.

“Pakistan have had some issues with determining a venue for the series,” CA’s Chief Executive James Sutherland told ESPNCricinfo. “In order to avoid the heat you reduce the number of ODIs you play, and you play Twenty20s [instead]. We haven’t had any formal discussions but we’ll talk to the International Cricket Council about that.”
