ISLAMABAD:

Capital police tracked down suspects involved in two separate murder incidents after they were pointed out as supects by the victims’ relatives.

A woman, who was found murdered in her house in January had been shot by robbers, according to her husband, but the victim’s brother suspected foul play and asked Tarnol police to investigate the case. It took the police five months to get to the murderer who proved to be the woman’s husband.

In January, the victim’s brother Muhammad Sagheer had lodged a complaint with Tarnol police to investigate his sister’s murder and disclosed he suspected her husband Muhammad Shafqat was involved in the murder.

After the police collected evidence against him, Shafqat confessed to killing his wife during an investigation. He said he had killed her for not granting permission for second marriage, according to the police. Shafqat also helped the police recover a 32-bore pistol which was used as the murder weapon.

The man has been booked for murder and was sent to jail, while his other two accomplices Gulfaraz and Tariq Mehmud have also been arrested and were being interrogated, said police.

In another case resolved by Tarnol police, they discovered that a man had been killed by his brother over a monetary dispute. Rehmanullah, a resident of Pind Paracha near Chungi 26, was shot at his residence last month. His brother, Subhanullah, lodged a case with Tarnol police to trace the killers and identified his brother as a possible suspect. The police collected evidence against Farmanullah and booked him for murder. He will be sent to jail on judicial remand.
