Nature’s warning: Earthquake jolts northern Pakistan

Meteorological department says that the epicentre of the earthquake was the Hindukush mountains.

PESHAWAR: A 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck parts of northern Pakistan including Peshawar, Malakand, Sawat, Lower Dir and Chitral regions on Monday. Mild jolts were also felt in the federal capital and Rawalpindi. The meteorological department said that the epicentre of the earthquake was the Hindukush mountains. Meanwhile, no loss of life or property was reported. However, panic gripped the affected areas as people were seen rushing for safety and reciting verses from the Holy Quran.
