Refusal: Man accused of throwing acid on daughter, 3

FAISALABAD:

A man allegedly threw acid on his three-year-old daughter on Tuesday after his wife, living with her parents, refused to return to live with him.

Thikriwala police said the suspect, Tajammul Hussain, a resident of Chak 241-RB Chanchal Singhwala, and his wife, Sughra Bibi, had an argument and she left him and went to live with her parents.

On Tuesday, she told police, he had visited her and asked her to return with him. When she refused, he threw acid at the child in the street. He then fled abandoning her on the street.

Some passers-by said they had found the girl in the street and informed the family. The girl was taken to a hospital, where doctors treating her said she had 45 per cent burns. They said most of her lower body was burned but she will likely survive.

Hussain was arrested. He has denied throwing acid at the child and said that his in-laws had implicated him in a false case.
