Bus accident: 26 killed, more than 100 injured near Kahuta

Bus was on its way from Chakwal to Kahuta when it fell into ravine while taking turn near Nar village.

KAHUTA: At least 26 people were killed and more than 100 sustained injuries when a bus fell into a ravine on the outskirts of Kahuta, Express News reported on Monday .

The bus was on its way from Chakwal to Kahuta when it fell into a ravine while taking a turn near the village of Nar.

The bus had at least 150 passengers, out of which 10 passed away on the spot whereas 16 people were rushed to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Kahuta where they died due to severe injuries.

Rescue workers and ambulances reached the site after information of the accident was recieved. More than 70 injured people were rushed District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Kahuta whereas the remaining 30 were moved to District hospital in Rawalpindi where they received immediate medical treatment.

Many of the victims have sustained severe head injuries and are reported to be in critical condition. An emergency has been declared at District hospital, Rawalpindi.

The number of casualties is feared to rise while the condition of some of the injured is said to be critical.
