Supreme Court admits PML-N, PTI petitions against NA Speaker's ruling
The petitions, filed on May 28, after Speaker National Assembly Fehmida Mirza had declared the Prime Minister did not stand disqualified despite being convicted for contempt of court.
Petitions will be heard by a three member bench under the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chuadhry on June 6.
PML-N’s petition was filed to the through MNA Khawaja Muhammad Asif. Asif has made Gilani and the Law ministry secretary respondents in the petition.
An earlier report in the The Express Tribune had revealed that the main points of the petition stated that the National Assembly Speaker’s ruling was tantamount to subverting the principles of democracy, equality, and the independence of the judiciary.
According to a handout issued by the party, the petitioned brought into question whether the right of a fair trial also mandates a corresponding duty to abide by the verdict of a fair trial, which cannot be violated by the NA speaker.
It argued that the ruling cannot be protected under Article 69 of the Constitution “by any legal stretch of imagination”.
PTI’s petition
PTI filed the petition in the Supreme Court through senior lawyer of the court, Hamid Khan.
The petition sought replies from four respondents: Dr Mirza, Gilani, federation of Pakistan and Election Commission of Pakistan.
It argued that decision of Speaker National Assembly was unconstitutional, void and in violation of fundamental rights of access to justice and independence of judiciary. It further prayed that ECP be allowed to decide the question of disqualification of the Prime Minister, as having been deemed to be have been referred to it under Article 63 (2) and (3).

Please C.J.P. don't waste your time on this useless issue whereas you have seen already that your first orders have been rejected and denied by the PM Gillani and Fehmida Mirza and how many your orders are followed and obeyed.Now make yourself no more unauthorized and dummy person and rubber stamp in the eyes of National Assembly,parliament and of PPP's government.You should never forget that the PPP's leaders including Fehmida Mirza are the masters of "gamesmanship".

And all this could have been avoided had the Supreme Court taken a decisive decision on Gilani's contempt of court charge.Hence do not expect any shattering decision resulting from this petition. It seems that everyone is playing Ring a Ring Roses... while the country is going down the t----t.
Hello CJP, my city Karachi is in blood, along with enormous amount of street crimes, fear in the minds of Karachiites. We are not able to live a peaceful life. Also, the level of corruption of police (kaali wardi and safaid wardi both) is haunting us, we fear them not because we have broken the law, but more because we know they will mint money from us for literally nothing. These are the matters to look into (along with all other cities/villages' problems), and not trying to kick this government out in any legal way. Please CJP please. You are a CJP not a politician

Let us wait for the barrage of comments from PPP jiyalas who will again go on an unnecessary tirade against the Supreme Court, the Armed Forces, "Mullahs", and everyone who criticizes them. Since anyone who finds fault with the government, is anti democracy. And, and, if anyone finds fault with the government, why doesn't he leave then?
