Spurious medicine: Fake factory sealed

Police confiscated several spurious drugs, chemicals, powder, empty bottles, cartons, machinery and a truck.

Police on Wednesday sealed a spurious drugs factory in Samundri area, arrested two men and confiscated a large amount of spurious drugs recovered from there.


Deputy District Health Officer Dr Muhammad Sadiq, SHO Usman Warraich and their team raided a house on Rajana Road in Mohallah Islampura, where the tenants had set up a factory.

Those arrested were identified as Muhammad Irshad, a resident of Samundri, and Ghulam Hussain, a resident of Kamalia.

The police confiscated several spurious drugs, chemicals, powder, empty bottles, cartons, machinery and a truck.

Police officials said that samples from the seized medicines were sent to a government laboratory. Inspector Mian Waheed told The Express Tribune that the arrested men had revealed that the locally made drugs were being supplied to various stores in Faisalabad, Samundri, Gojra, Kamalia, Jaranwala, Tandlianwala, Mureedwala, Rajana and Mamu Kanjan.
