KARACHI:

At least 50 to 60 armed men were behind the attack at the pro-Sindh rally on Napier road, says a DSP who was one of the leading officers at the rally and claims to have seen the whole episode.

“Their plan was to first fire from the top and when people would run into the streets to save their lives they would target them there,” he explained, presenting his assessment of the situation.

He claimed that the armed men on the rooftops had telescopes and were looking for the Amn Committee leaders. A young man was leading the armed men on the streets and all of them had Kalashnikovs.

He said that the rally’s participants did not set any vehicle on fire but it was the armed men who did it after attacking them. “It was mayhem at that point and everyone was just running for their life so how is it possible for them to stop to set vehicles on fire,” he questioned.
